BeamX is the first spin-off of INFN (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare) dedicated to designing and manufacturing linear accelerators for industrial applications. Founded in 2023 and based in Rome, we bring to industry the world-class expertise built over decades inside one of Europe's leading centres of excellence in particle accelerator science.

Italy has a long and distinguished tradition in accelerator physics — from the pioneering experiments at the Frascati laboratories in the 1950s to today's contributions at CERN and major international research facilities. BeamX channels this unique national heritage into certified, field-deployable industrial systems: compact LINACs that generate high-energy X-rays for NDT, security and inspection markets.

Our LuminaX-2 (2 MeV) will be presented at ECNDT Verona 2026. The higher-energy models follow the same validated platform. We are agile, dynamic and flexible by design — small enough to stay close to every customer, deep enough to engineer the LINAC that's right for their application.

Founder of Comeb Srl — 35+ years of precision mechanics for particle accelerators and ultra-high vacuum systems. Design and manufacturing of RF components for international research institutes including INFN, CERN, UCLA, PSI and FERMI.

Ph.D. in Electromagnetism, Sapienza University of Rome (2003). Director of Technological Research at INFN Frascati for 22+ years. Expert in RF cavity design, beam dynamics and vacuum systems. Co-inventor of patent WO2016/147118.

Ph.D. in Electromagnetism, Sapienza University of Rome (2010). Senior Technologist at INFN Frascati. 15+ years in designing particle accelerators for research, industrial and medical applications in Italy and abroad (INFN, UCLA).

Our origin

The first INFN spin-off
for industrial LINACs.

The INFN (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare) is Italy's national institute for nuclear and particle physics, and one of the world's leading centres for accelerator science. Its Frascati laboratories — active since 1954 — have contributed to breakthrough discoveries and to the design of accelerators operating at CERN, UCLA, PSI, FERMI and research facilities across four continents.

BeamX was born inside this ecosystem through the INFN Tech Transfer programme, which supports the transition of scientific know-how into commercial applications. We are the first INFN spin-off entirely focused on building compact linear accelerators for industry — making the technology of major research labs available to manufacturers, integrators and end-users worldwide.
